ETC broadens reach with new locals

Nationwide expansion targets existing customer sites

MINNEAPOLIS-Electronic Technologies Corp. opened a new branch here at the beginning of this year, one of six new locations for the nationwide systems integrator.

The branches are part of the company's strategy to expand in key locations where the company already has customers and opportunity exists to provide more services to that customer base.

"It's very important to us to maintain, even in a start-up situation, a break-even situation," said Scott Deininger, senior vice president of operations for the Dover Plains, N.Y.-based Electronic Technologies Corp.

Deininger said the new locations were needed to manage national accounts ETC recently secured with businesses such as banks and other financial institutions.

"That seems to be where a majority of our growth is," said Deininger. "As new people get appointed to corporations, they're looking at having to cut costs and do more with less. A way you can do that is to centralize procedures and create a networked based security system."

The Minneapolis office, along with recently started branches in Monroe, La., Albany, N.Y., Hartford, Conn., Parsippany, N.J., and Spokane, Wash., opened with either two or three technicians. Later, as business for that location grows, ETC adds a project manager, area manager and sales team.

Combined with the company's existing locations, the new offices give coverage in 27 states and 37 cities.

That number could expand further later this summer when ETC's new fiscal year begins and company officials look at adding branches in Salt Lake City, Oklahoma City, Albuquerque and Boise, Idaho.

Deininger expects the six new locations will increase the company's revenues by 10 percent to 15 percent.
