UCC, CheckVideo partner on monitored video services

Analytics key selling point for UCC’s network of dealers

SAN ANTONIO—United Central Control, a leading wholesale monitoring provider based here, has entered into a partnership with CheckVideo to offer advanced video services and training for UCC’s network of more than 500 dealers.

The cloud-based services from CheckVideo include video detection and response, video alarm verification and virtual guard tours. Analytic capabilities allow the company’s cameras to detect the presence of people and vehicles, not just motion, which “dramatically reduces nuisance alarms,” the company said in a prepared statement.

Mark Matlock, senior vice president of UCC, said analytics were a key selling point in the new partnership.

“For outdoor video, that makes all the difference in the world,” Matlock told Security Systems News. “For false-alarm reduction, analytics are huge. They’re able to filter out cars driving by and birds and squirrels and other things that can give other systems fits.”

Real-time alerts from CheckVideo are sent to United Central’s CSAA Five Diamond-certified central station for assessment and response. Alerts also can be used to trigger audio commands to help stop crimes in progress, and for operational issues such as tracking deliveries or a business’s opening and closing times.

“Customers across markets ranging from construction, automotive and utilities are benefiting from CheckVideo and realizing a return on their investment in managed video services,” said Chris Brown, vice president of the Reston, Va.-based company. “[UCC] understands video monitoring technology and how to integrate it with operational protocols to provide outstanding customer service.”

Matlock said another key to the partnership was CheckVideo’s interactive approach and how it is stepping up to train UCC’s dealers.

“We didn’t want to have to be the video experts who gave our customers the training,” he said. “We were looking for a manufacturer that provided support, and they brought that to the table.”

Technical and sales training has already begun at UCC’s state-licensed school in Texas, Matlock said, providing what is basically “Video 101.”

“It’s not just how you install it, it’s how to sell the value proposition for video, what the applications are, and on and on,” he said. “It’s been wonderful for us. We have a lot of dealers involved with this training who would have never known where to start.”

UCC’s dealers serve more than 200,000 accounts nationwide.
